Since each of us go through highschool alone ,we all look for companions.Could be the athletes, cool kids or the punks. We long to be apart of something without necessary looking at the pro’s and cons. This is where are morals are put to the test. Whether they put their pride and innocents above friends.
When we are with our ‘peers’ we struggle to see the line between what’s right and what’s wrong. We all get drawn into making bad decisions such as drinking ,smoking or unprotected sex, etc. We sacrifice so much just to get the approval of our ‘friends’ or acceptance of them…And just so you know this isn’t how friendship should work.Everyone should be on equal terms and should have a say whether or not they want to do something. You should be able to make your own choice and the freedom to do whatever you feel comfortable doing. Your life shouldn’t be controlled around what your friends think you should do or want you to do.
No one succeeds the first time, so even if they are the first friends you’ve had in highschool ,they dont neccesarily have to be the friends you have in the end.Me for example, has had different friend groups each year and soon you discover your real friends along they way.Im grade 11 now and I’m still not sure they are my real friends but for the moment they are what I call friends.
They dont have to be the best listeners or the most athletic or even the funniest. As long as they are there for you when you need them and accept you for who you are, flaws and all, then they are your ride or die. Those are the people you keep close to you and cherish. They will be the ones that will support you every step of the way ,physically or in spirit on whatever wacky thing you might want to take on.There arent alot like them out there, they are a very special breed and quite difficult to find and once you have them. Its for keeps. They will be your friends till the end.
In the end ,dont put up a facade to impress others and stay true to your morals.Friends come and go. Real friends are the ones that arent worth losing.Youll know when you find them. Its a feeling that’s similar to love, it’s a connection that is unbreakable and can withstand even the most unbearable hardships. Those are true friends.
